Art, music, technology… Rennes: discover the program of the festival Now

From October 6 to 9, 2022, the festival Nowdedicated to the arts, music and technology, invests 14 places in Rennes Métropole for its 22nd edition. Conferences, concerts and shows, not to mention a ” electronic night“… Discover the program for these 4 days of festivities.

Thursday, October 6

  • At the Théâtre du Vieux Saint-Etienne, from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., pulse : creation of water, light and pulsations by Tristan Menez.
  • At the Théâtre du Vieux Saint-Etienne, from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Suddenly always : monumental machine that creates an air sculpture. Based on the principle of a contemporary aerodynamic wind tunnel, the machine generates a laminar blast: a perfectly parallel air movement without turbulence. By Guillaume Cousin.
  • At the Théâtre du Vieux St-Etienne, 6 p.m., Festival opening night : concert by Bianca Brusci and presentation of Lava, an audiovisual performance by Tryphème and Ulysse Lefort
  • At the National Choreographic Center of Rennes and Brittany (CCNRB), from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Manicouagan exhibition by Paul Ducombe: exhibition on the eye of Quebec, a huge space located on the ancestral territory of the Innu nation.
  • At the Drum of Rennes 2 University at 2:30 p.m., conference Ambivalences #3 – Political Mutations, Chapter 1 – Hacktivisms.

Friday, October 7

  • At the Champs Libres at 5.30 p.m., concert by the artists Pavane and & Björn Gottschall (keyboard and electronic music).
  • At La Confluence de Betton at 8:30 p.m., concert Elemental Harmonies with Vanessa Wagner, Labelle and the Orchester National de Bretagne (classical music, electronics and mayola).
  • At the Théâtre du Vieux St-Etienne, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., pulse : creation of water, light and pulsations by Tristan Menez.

  • At the Champs Libres at 5:30 p.m., concert A Natural History of Networks/Softmachine : sounds by electrodes. By German artist R. Baecker.
  • At the Rennes Opera at 7 p.m., mihalis shammas concert. Electronic interpretation of the Greek harp.
  • At the Garden Party at 7 p.m., concert by Fabrizio Rat : the Italian article mixes sounds produced by the workers of the Baud-Chardonnet shipyard.
  • At the Théâtre du Vieux Saint-Etienne from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., pulse : creation of water, light and pulsations by Tristan Menez.

  • At the CCNRB, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Manicouagan exhibition by Paul Ducombe: exhibition on the eye of Quebec, a huge space located on the ancestral territory of the Innu nation.
  • At the Museum of Fine Arts, from 2 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 5:40 p.m., “Hybrid #1 – ↺6” by Andreas Trobollowitsch : ephemeral sound installation composed of three mechanical turntables, six flutes and six balloons.
  • At the Grande Prairie, at 2:30 p.m., opening of the permanent installation Moutonium Guillaumit and Bruit du Frigo: a play area revisiting the leapfrog.
  • At the Champs libre at 3:30 p.m., conference with the artist Paul Ducombe on his Manicouagan exhibition.
  • At the Jeu de Paume from 2 p.m., Super Saturday : series of games and workshops for children (from 3, 4 or 8 years old depending on the activities) and festive boom with a DJ set by the Rennes collective Les Vagins Enchantés.
  • At the Antipode, Electronic Night : creation mixing animated painting and electronic music by S8jfou & Simon Lazarus, and DJs Objekt, Sherelle, Célélé and Pö as well as live performances by Animistic Beliefs, Alexis Lumière and Judgitzu.

Sunday October 9

  • At the Rennes Opera at 2.30 p.m., Mihalis Shammas concert: electronic interpretation of the Greek harp.
  • At the Salle de la Cité, at 4 p.m., concert by Felicia Atkinson & Violeta Azevedo mixing loops, distortions, flute and orchestra voice.
  • At the Théâtre du Vieux Saint-Etienne, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., pulse : creation of water, light and pulsations by Tristan Menez.
  • At the Théâtre du Vieux Saint-Etienne, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Suddenly always : monumental machine that creates an air sculpture. Prices and booking

With the exception of Electronic Night and Elementary Harmonies concert, all events are free ! It is nevertheless necessary to Reserve place because the number of places is limited.

Electronic Night tickets are at 20 € presale, €23 on site, €5 with the Sortir! scheme. As for the Elementary Harmonies show, the prices are 26€ full price€13 at a reduced rate, €9 at a lower rate and €4 with the Sortir! device.
