Canal+ merges the technical means of broadcasting its DTT and satellite offers thanks to One Beam technology

(Ecofin Agency) – In Africa, several operators offer DTT packages in addition to their channels, accessible by satellite. The implementation of such an offer requires significant investments in satellite capacity to broadcast the two bouquets.

Canal+ is currently upgrading its TNT Easy TV service. The platform has been migrated from a standard DVB-T2/T2MI broadcast, dedicated to DTT, to a broadcast based on One Beam technology. The upgrade was carried out by Enensys Technologies.

OneBeam technology makes it possible in particular to merge the broadcasting of DTT and satellite offers. This will allow the French operator to save satellite broadcasting capacity. The first phase of the upgrade began in Guinea-Conakry and continued in selected cities in the DRC, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon.

The migration, if successful, could give ideas to operators providing both satellite and DTT offers on the continent. A rush to OneBeam technology would suit the business of companies capable of merging DTT and satellite broadcasting.
