This new strain of Covid is a combination of the Omicron variant and the original virus.
Boston University researchers have announced that they have developed a new strain of the coronavirus in the laboratory, reports the American media FoxNews. The scientists would have arrived at this result by managing to extract the Spike protein from the variant Omicron and associating it with the strain first detected in Wuhan at the start of the pandemic. They then carried out experiments by contaminating mice with this hybrid strain.

“80% mortality rate”
“In mice, while Omicron causes a mild, non-lethal infection, the virus carrying Omicron S [la nouvelle souche hybride] inflicts severe disease with an 80% mortality rate”the researchers said. The scientists from Florida and Boston add that the new strain contains five times more infectious viral particles than the Omicron variant but less dangerous than the original strain.
Researchers at Boston University say they have developed a new COVID strain that has an 80% kill rate following a series of similar experiments first thought to have started the global pandemic that began in China.https://t.co/5ZhL25Rzia
