A pilot project that benefits both farmers and agricultural start-ups, Firmatech was launched by Green openlab in the AgriTech of Sefrou. Its objective: to bring together the technological and agricultural communities.
The first of its kind to be launched in Morocco, Firmatech, which is part of the Green Generation Strategy 2020-2030, is an integrated center that aims to promote modern and efficient agriculture in terms of water and energy. It was recently launched at AgriTech in Sefrou, part of the Green OpenLab campus, chaired by Amine Zerrouk, in the presence of Mohammed Sadiki, Minister of Agriculture, and other players in the agricultural ecosystem.
According to Zerrouk, “The objective of setting up this center is to build the capacity of farmers in the preparation of a new generation of agricultural entrepreneurs, while bringing the technological and agricultural communities closer together. » Built on four hectares, and having mobilized an investment of 9.5 MDH, Firmatech has a service counter for farmers, an educational and demonstration farm integrating new agricultural and technological/digital practices and a LabToMarket accelerator for AgriTech startups, with a Fablab for rapid prototyping.
To accompany Farmers…
Firmatech is a “digital educational farm,” explains Zerrouk. Thanks to its one-stop shop, farmers can take advantage of several services. These include, in particular, assistance in the use of digital agricultural service platforms (E-Services), the electronic filing of subsidy files, access to wholesale market prices, a soil fertility… In addition, this platform also offers the sale and rental of portable measuring tools as well as training for the marketing of production online via the Lagro.ma platform, and technical assistance for the realization of quick scans.
… But also startups
In addition to Firmatech, Green OpenLab also offers “Lab-to-Market”, an additional offer intended for startups. It is a demonstration and cooperative platform for agricultural and technological services, allowing innovators to take advantage of an Innovation center, co-working spaces, FabLab & FarmLab, to produce their prototypes. They also benefit from seminars on entrepreneurship, innovation and sales techniques, as well as taking part in hackathons and challenges (Open innovation, Farmers challenges).
