What we want to do with our patent is to protect our innovation so that it is not taken over by large companies in the pharmaceutical field, for example.
explains the owner of the company, Michelle Secours.
” This is to prevent [les grandes entreprises]as them 3 M and the Kimberly Clarks of this world taking over [notre technologie] and that they have it manufactured overseas and that means that we don’t have control over prices, that we no longer have autonomy by region… that’s why we protected our innovation. »
The company had started making washable masks at the start of the pandemic.
This is for our multi-layer technology Again, a filtering technology that makes it possible to make reusable medical-grade masks, among other things, and which could be applied to various other forms of filtration, such as filtration systems for air quality or other types of personal protection
says Ms. Secours.
” This is [la technologie] multilayer which has been accepted for international patentability and not the masks as such. »
Michelle Secours points out that she had started the process in this direction about two years ago.
She adds that obtaining an international patent for such technology is a world first.
It takes a principle of real novelty to the innovation that we submit
she says. If we are granted positive patentability, that means that it did not exist before and that we are the first and with that, it allows us, among other things, to go and collaborate to have our technology developed elsewhere with what are called royalties.
Ms. Secours indicates that the royalties generated by the use, by other companies, of her patent will be used for the development of several projects, in particular a washable air filter.
