Home fragrances: Scentys invests and innovates to meet demand

Since its creation in 2004, Scentys has offered brands (75% of sales) a proprietary technology diffusion of fragrances in the air. The concentrate is packaged in a solid format, in the form of small pearls, and the diffusion is done thanks to a flow of air. This proprietary technology is also marketed to shops, offices or hotels to ensure the olfactory identity of the premises. Finally, for the in-store test, the company offers alternative solutions to the tester bottles, in the form of mechanical olfactory keys: filled with scented capsules developed by the company, they ensure perfect and very faithful reproduction (always validated by the brands) for about two months, without maintenance.

Strong market growth

Carried by the dynamism of the home fragrance marketScentys is aiming for the 20 to 25 million euros in turnover within 5 years, compared to 6 million made in 2021. The company opened a sales office in New York in March, to better serve a very dynamic North American market. It is also counting on the growing interest of Asia, especially China, for the creation of pleasant olfactory atmospheres at home, in the office or in the car.

The home fragrance market has been growing at a steady pace for several years. Its growth has accelerated with the various confinements, which have led people to attach great importance to the comfort of their homes and, more generally, to their well-being. », explains Pierre Loustric, President.

New industrial site and new identity

Anticipating the increase in its activity, Scentys has invested nearly one million euros in a new industrial tool. On July 1, the company started up its new production unit in Saint-Ouen L’Aumône, in the outer suburbs of Paris, on a 3,000 m2 site (compared to 600 m2 for the old one), benefiting from the BREEAM environmental label.

Equipped with new machines, the site is ready to meet the demands of increasingly demanding customers for a complete service, including not only the filling of perfumed capsules but also their packaging. A quality manager position has been created to oversee all processes and guarantee optimal customer service.

Finally, a FabLab equipped with rapid prototyping machines has been integrated. It should allow development teams to move more quickly from customer concept to industrial prototype, and thus considerably reduce development times before launch.

At the same time, Scentys has reviewed its visual identity by adopting a new logo, a new baseline (“Excellence in fragrance diffusion”) and a new website.

More sustainable solutions

Thanks to a technology that uses very little perfumed concentrate and ultra-light products for a duration of diffusion equivalent to that of a candle, Scentys has long claimed a reduced environmental impact. Especially since its dry technology does not emit VOCs and therefore offers a particularly safe fragrance.

To go further, the EcoVadis Silver certified company completes its offer for its cartridges, by also offering a recycled PP option. The cartridges are also recyclable in the normal flow of plastic packaging. Scentys is continuing its research and is currently evaluating various alternative materials.

Our very light cartridges (24g) are perfectly adapted to e-commerce and the carbon footprint of their transport is very small, compared to candles for example. But we are continuing our efforts to find ever more ecological solutions. “, insists Pierre Loustric.
