The program aims to help women develop their skills and use new technologies to grow, improve and digitize their businesses, giving them an advantage in the digital economy. This year there are also prizes for the top three entrepreneurs who will be chosen at the end of the 5-day online training.

The training includes three courses: cloud computing and its benefits for SMEs, digital marketing for business success, especially in an increasingly competitive online market, and leadership development. The program will conclude with an in-person networking opportunity at Huawei’s office park in Woodmead, Johannesburg.

Dr Jude Clark, a clinical psychologist, facilitator, executive coach and renowned gender and development practitioner in South Africa and abroad, will deliver the leadership course.

“More and more women entrepreneurs are taking on the leadership role and changing the landscape of leadership in different sectors in South Africa. But for many, there remains a disconnect between their sense of personal power and their vision for their businesses. This program explores what it means for a female entrepreneur to show herself in her power and what psychological and relational changes need to be made in order to align personal power with the vision of the business,” explains Dr. Clark.

Pumza Mthethwa, Strategic Business Director at BrandTies, will introduce entrepreneurs to the latest trends in digital marketing.

She says it’s more important than ever for business owners to ensure they don’t get left behind in the rapidly changing digital space.

“This digital marketing training program will explore the latest trends and how women-owned businesses can leverage them to grow their businesses.”

“Participating in the Huawei Women in Tech training program was an eye opener for me in many ways,” says Slindile Khanyile, 2021 participant, Head of Digital Publications and Co-Director of Likhanyile Tutoring & Media. “As a digital-based company and a start-up, having access to this type of content and resources has been invaluable, especially because we wouldn’t have had the financial means to access it yet.”

“We were incredibly pleased with the success of the Women4Tech 2021 event and the positive feedback we received from our female attendees,” said Vanashree Govender Media Relations and Communications Manager at Huawei South Africa. “We are excited to be able to bring the program back as an annual initiative in 2022.”

The program is open to all women entrepreneurs, who will be selected on criteria such as their willingness to adopt new technologies in their business. Those interested in applying should email then complete a short application form and will be contacted if their applications are successful.
