Lithoz adds new ceramic 3D printing technology to its portfolio with the acquisition of CerAMing

Notartermin zum Verkauf der CerAMing GmbH an die Lithoz GmbH – Herr Jinchun Chi, Herr Boris Agea Blanco, Herr Dr. Johannes Homa, Herr Sebastian Walzel and Herr Jörg Lüchtenborg (vlnr)

The ceramic 3D printing company Lithoz has acquired CerAMinga spin-off from BAM (Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung/German Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing), which is developing the technology LSD-Print.

This acquisition is the first that Lithoz has made in the AM industry; it establishes the technology provider as a leader in the ceramic AM market with three different ceramic AM technologies in its portfolio.

The processes proposed by Lithoz have so far focused on ultra-precise resolutions and very complex internal structures in the case of LCM, and on particularly high wall thicknesses and the largest possible volumes with total density in the case of the LIS. With the acquisition of start-up CerAMing and the related expansion of the technology portfolio to include layer-by-layer suspension layout, Lithoz now covers a very wide range of applications in ceramic additive manufacturing, LSD-Print technology covering the area between the LCM and LIS processescan we read in a press release.

Not only can each of these processes offer extremely high densities and exceptional material properties, but manufacturers now have a much more complete palette of processes to explore for their applications.

Many arguments help to understand Lithoz’s interest in CerAMing: their journey began in a research institute and we know, from our conversation with Dr. Johannes Homa, founder and CEO of Lithoz, that the company owes its success current to the academics with whom it works closely. In addition, CerAMing emphasizes technology transfer, which is at the heart of several research activities and constitutes a unique added value in the collaboration with industrial companies.

With the acquisition of CerAMing, Lithoz expands its technology portfolio for the first time through a strategic acquisition. We see this technology as another key pillar in achieving our vision of enabling geographically independent, yet fully digitally connected, global mass production in the ceramics industry. We have already been able to achieve this goal with our market leading LCM technology and with LIS technology we will soon be able to pursue our goals with LSD printing as complementary technologies with the same high quality. and without compromising on the results“, comments Homa.

When we started our journey as entrepreneurs in 2019, we were particularly inspired by the success story of Lithoz. It fills us with pride that CerAMing now becomes part of this success and that the fruits of our labor contribute to its progress. “, Sebastian Walzelco-founder of CerAMing, is very proud of his company’s new position and is eager to see how this new development will lead to progress and innovation in the world of ceramic additive manufacturing.
