Morocco acquired Israeli drone technology as part of the military and security cooperation agreement, signed last November by Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz and Minister in charge of National Defense Administration Abdellatif Loudiyi.
According to online media Middle East Monitor (MEMO), citing the Israeli Defense Ministry, the technology in question is linked to the Elenit secret intelligence system for electronic warfare, which is manufactured by the Israeli company Elbit Systems.
This technology is used to collect radar signals from air defense systems, the same source added, indicating that Elbit Systems has confirmed the delivery of ground units equipped with electronic support, countermeasures and command systems. and control.
These units will allow the Royal Armed Forces to respond effectively to air and ground threats, the same source said, stressing that this technology can be used with drones already deployed by Morocco, such as the Israeli-made Harop and the Bayraktar TB2 manufactured by Turkey.
The contract, the amount of which reaches 70 million dollars, covers thirty months, according to Israeli sources.
The media noted that this announcement coincides with that of another Moroccan-Israeli air defense agreement, namely the recent acquisition by Morocco of a flotilla of 150 military drones from the Israeli company BlueBird, including 50% of the capital. is owned by the State of Israel.
