Quite smooth in normal times when he is behind a microphone, Roberto Martinez is at least out of his hinges after the division made by the Red Devils in Cardiff on Saturday evening. And the Catalan coach did not attack his players unable to keep their advantage via a goal from Youri Tielemans but to the VAR, the video assistance of the referees.
For Martinez, it is incomprehensible that the Welsh goal could have been granted. On the images on television and therefore in the premises of the VAR, we can however see that the foot of Thorgan Hazard covers Johnson. “The two lines drawn on the screen are not correct,” says Roberto Martinez.
“There is offside on this phase. We looked at the footage and the offside lines are not aligned with the large rectangle. The linesman did an excellent job raising his flag. But it was not followed. It’s simply unbelievable that this goal is allowed. This is proof that the wrong technology is being used and that it needs to be changed. Tonight, while the whole group gave their all on the pitch, we lost two points because of VAR. »
