Sustainable buildings: New compact roofs with R454B refrigerant and inverter technology

Thermocold Airtop models feature low Global Warming Potential (GWP) R-454B refrigerant and compressors equipped with variable speed drive technology to provide the level of performance and durability demanded by industrial and commercial applications.

Thermocolt, an Italian manufacturer expert in providing solutions for air conditioning, today launched the latest additions to its range of air-to-air rooftop heat pumps: the Airtop models. Thermocold Airtop models feature low Global Warming Potential (GWP) R-454B refrigerant and compressors equipped with variable speed drive technology to provide the level of performance and durability demanded by industrial and commercial applications.

And because they allow both cooling and heating needs to be met, they are a particularly viable and sustainable alternative to fossil fuel heating solutions.”

The Airtop range consists of ready-to-use, self-contained cooling, heating and ventilation units designed to save installation time and reduce initial investment and ongoing maintenance costs. With a cooling capacity of between 16 and 39 kW and a heating capacity of between 14 and 36 kW, the new Airtop models, powered by R-454B refrigerant, guarantee rock-solid performance and a reduced ecological footprint.

A durable, high-performance alternative

Thanks to the variable-speed drive technology, airtop roofs achieve a higher degree of efficiency at partial load and adapt perfectly to the needs of the building. Thereby reducing energy consumption, more precise temperature control and ensuring better comfort for the occupants of commercial infrastructures or restaurants. By ensuring a controlled room atmosphere, rooftop units are also suitable for storage rooms and warehouses.

For even more sustainable buildings, Thermocold Airtop roofs feature innovative energy saving features such as adaptive airflow with variable speed fans, free cooling and heat recovery systems. The R-454B refrigerant used by Thermocold for its entire range of scroll compressor chillers, heat pumps, 4-pipe multipurpose units and rooftop units has a GWP of 467. In other words, the highest among those currently available in scroll Refrigerants used refrigerant compressor technology. R-454B reduces the direct impact of GWP by 76% compared to R-410A and by 34% compared to R-32. An innovation that therefore meets the needs of customers looking for a high-performance, sustainable alternative to maintain their investments and mitigate the increase in European taxation on refrigerants.
