The announcement was made on the night of Thursday to Friday by the billionaire with triple nationality (South African, Canadian and American) Elon Musk, now owner of the social network Twitter. The imminent lawsuit which threatened this operation of repurchase is narrowly avoided.
For 44 billion dollars, the boss of Tesla took control of the famous social network symbolized by a blue bird. Announced since April 2022, this takeover operation almost fell through because Elon Musk had in the meantime accused Twitter leaders of having hidden elements from them. In return, the latter warned the billionaire of the legal fallout that could result from a unilateral breach of his purchase commitment.
Elon Musk therefore had until Friday to finalize the buyout process; failing that, he would be assigned from the beginning of November. Very fond of sensational situations, the new boss of Twitter waited until the last moment to pay out the 44 billion dollars.
In the crowd, 3 Twitter executives are immediately thanked: CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal and Head of Legal Affairs Vijaya Gadde.
Elon Musk plans to free up much more speech on the social network known for its rigor in the control of published content. He had thus opened the door to a return of Donald Trump, ousted from Twitter shortly after supporting his supporters who took part in the assault on the Capitol in January 2021.
Will the blue bird survive the freedom that the businessman wants to give him?
