Europe is financing more and more deep-tech start-ups and helping them to emerge in order to remain competitive in these fields. But in addition to funding these initiatives, it is also necessary for companies to be able to recruit qualified labour. This is why the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is launching the Deep Tech talent initiative with the aim of training one million Europeans in deep-ptech over the next three years. The sectors covered by the trainings are semiconductors, blockchain, aerospace and quantum computing. “It is necessary to encourage, attract and retain deep-tech talents in Europe to enable an ecological and digital transition”, said Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation. The training will be aimed at all Europeans from the end of high school to specialists. In this initiative, the role of the EIT will be to connect public and private organisations, industry and education players and investors to develop the most suitable programmes.
