On the occasion of the AutoCar Expo show at the Parc des Expositions Lyon Eurexpo this Thursday, October 13, Laurent Wauquiez presented the first hydrogen coach with a French battery, manufactured in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The vehicle will be used by the Region for public and interurban transport.
This operation is the first European project for a retrofitted car with a French 100% hydrogen fuel cell. Most of the components are of French and regional origin since the battery was manufactured by the Symbio group, the battery by GCK and the reservoirs by Forvia (ex-Faurecia).
Retrofitted by GCK, this coach will be able to cover at least 400 km and a significant difference in altitude, with performance comparable to the original vehicle, which meets the needs of a certain number of regional lines intended to run on zero emissions. The homologation of the coach is planned by the end of 2023 and it will be delivered to the Region from January 2024.
A pioneer in green hydrogen in Europe, the Region is carrying out the Zero Emission Valley project with the objective of deploying around twenty H2 stations on the regional territory (2 already commissioned in Chambéry and Moûtiers) as well as more a hundred heavy vehicles including 50 regional coaches and 13 buses for the BHNS Lyon-Trévoux line.
In addition, with more than 11% of alternative diesel coaches (mainly biogas), i.e. more than 550 out of the 5,000 in circulation, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region is the first Region in France for the number of alternative diesel vehicles. deployed, in front of Ile-de-France.
