The applicants of the first promotion of license in industrial maintenance and transport / logistics of the University of technology and management (UTM) received on October 29, 2022, their diplomas of end of training. After an academic course that will have lasted three years, these students who have received the rudiments necessary to face professional life say they are ready to begin their careers in their respective fields of expertise.
The first batch of UTM graduates is made up of thirteen applicants. Trained in the fields of industrial maintenance and transport/logistics, these students are today “ready for employment”, as the slogan of the university says. According to the student representative, David Kaboré, the professionalizing programs developed by the UTM have provided them not only with tools for personal development and social integration, but also and above all with assets for professional integration. He specifies that in addition to the theoretical training they were given, he and his comrades also carried out practical work, visits to companies and construction sites, which enabled them to get to grips with the realities on the ground.

The promotion received the baptismal name “Issaka Kargougou”, which is the name of their godfather. Director General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Burkina, Issaka Kargougou said he was honored by the choice made on his person. While congratulating his godchildren, he invited them to put into practice the knowledge acquired within the UTM, this with a spirit of rigor, audacity, perseverance and excellence, in order to always be the best in their domains. He is committed with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to support them with training in entrepreneurship, business plan designs for those who want to embark on self-entrepreneurship. It also offered the two best students in each course computers for the majors and tablets for the vice-majors.

During the graduation ceremony, the best students received scholarships, laptops, tablets, etc. from university partners. It is in this same vein that the mining group Endeavor mining offered the six best students scholarships worth a total of five million FCFA as well as laptops. An approach which, according to the country director of the mining group, Adama Soro, reflects their commitment to promoting excellence and supporting the efforts made in the field of education.

Officially opened in 2018, the University of Technology and Management was ranked among the best universities in Burkina in 2021. From eight students at the start, UTM has more than 500 to date. It offers training in finance, accounting, project management, economics and applied statistics, transport logistics, electronics and industrial computing, industrial maintenance, networks and telecommunications, buildings and public works, etc.

Issa Traoré, Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education and President of the ceremony, congratulated the management team of the UTM, for the contribution of the university in the training of executives in the different fields that the country needs. . “I wish them to redouble their efforts to be able to support the State in the absorption of young graduates from year to year”, he added.
